Call for Papers


1st UHAMKA International Conference on English Language Teaching (ELT) and Computer assisted language learning (CALL) (UICELL 2017)

Conference Theme:

”Shaping new understandings of the current issues on ELT and CALL for pursuing the excellence of English teaching and learning”


Venue: University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR HAMKA (UHAMKA), Jakarta, Indonesia

Conference Date: November 23-24 (Thursday-Friday), 2017


The UICELL is organized by the English Education graduate School of UHAMKA to provide an opportunity for TESOL practitioners, researchers and policy makers to share their work and experience as well as to update their knowledge on the current issues of TESOL in different contexts. Participating in the conference with comfortable atmosphere, it is expected that the TESOL practitioners gain information on the current findings of TESOL research, and the TESOL researchers get contextual information on the current practices of TESOL. Since ICT has been part of supporting tools utilized in the current TESOL, this conference also provides an opportunity to explore the potential and impacts of the technology used in TESOL, and how the TESOL which involves ICT should be designed.

Four specialized themes will be organized by the committee in a two-day conference schedule. The conference will also include keynote speakers with different areas of expertise in TESOL. The conference will be divided into the following themes and sub-themes:


Curriculum and materials development

Testing, assessment, evaluation

Literature and linguistics in ELT

Methods, strategies and approaches in ELT


Hybrid learning in ELT

Computer adaptive language testing

Distance learning (e-learning)


The theme-based sub-conferences are expected to build a strong research communities within the broader field of TESOL. Moreover, it will enable researchers to develop their own expertise and allow multi-disciplinary interactions which can lead to future innovative research with broader and more various areas of TESOL.
