UHAMKA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ELT AND CALL (UICELL) was organised by the Scientific Publication Support and Enhancement Unit (UPPI) of University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA, led by Herri Mulyono, Ph.D, one of the senior lecturers in the university. It was first held in 2017 facilitate English language teachers, educator, and researchers to discuss and disseminate their thoughts as well as their current findings on certain issues in the field. Since then, the conference is organised as an annual event in the University. Many world-recognised speakers have presented their ideas, thoughts and research in the conference; among others Dr Robert Kleinasser of Arizona State University, Prof. Gunawan Suryoputro of University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA, Dr. Irena Kuzborska of the University of York in the UK, Prof. Kazuyoshi Sato of Nagoya University of Foreign Studies in Japan, Changtarath Hongboontri, Ph.D of Mahidol University in Thailand, Dr. Patricia Kyle of the University of Texas, Dr. Darío Luis Banegas of the University of Strathclyde in the UK, and many more.
The Head of Study Program, Silih Warni, Ph.D and the Secretary of Study Program, Cahya Komara, M.Hum with all the lecturers and staffs have the vision, mission, goals and the graduate profile of the program study for graduating students who are not only ready to serve as Islamic teachers but also can be competent in the research, business in education (as an entrepreneur) and other field related to the English language.
